Hi All,
Just got my first FA - Armscor 1911 FS PS 9MM from Armscor MCS last Wednesday Dec 8, 2010. Fired 50 rounds of Armscor FMJ, with 1 failure to lock open when empty and 1 failure to eject, the Armscor guy told me the failures was due to my thumb hitting the slide lock. Cleaned it immediately when a arrived home and saw this, Is this normal for a new FA?
.
thanks

Several factors that caused the failure to lock and failure to eject. One would be a magazine spring that hasn't taken a set. Another would be the shooter's thumb unconsciously rubbing the slide. A remote possibility is when a low load was fired in your pistol.
The pic you attached to your post is just normal. That's a polished feed ramp. You may want to keep the magazine loaded for about two weeks until the spring takes a set.

@serpic,
You may want to send the pistol back to us. Just do not forget to provide a copy of your license.

No Sir! We just wanted to physically examine the pistol. The encircled area at the picture is a little bit dark (for my poor eyes, I guess ).

Bro normal lang yan ramp ng gun mo. Break-in period pa yan(virgin pa kumbaga) The ramp has nothing to do with failure to extract and failure to slide lock when magazine is empty. Try to fire more rounds and I bet magiging reliable yan 1911 mo. Dont forget also to properly lubricate it.

Yup! It might be the mag. As what I've seen in the photo, there's nothing wrong with the ramp part of the frame. (sa tingin ko lang,ha!)
A friend of mine who bought a .45 FS-PS NP also experienced the same thing.

I think you need a strong bore cleaner! Lead deposits aren't that easy to remove.

Using steel brush (and stainless steel brush) could scratch and ruin the barrel. I would suggest you look for Hoppes no. 9 and use nylon brush. Apply Hoppes no. 9 on the barrel and let stand overnight.
Also, I would recommend looking for a reputable reloader who mixes his bullet heads to the appropriate hardness or use bullet heads with moly coating to avoid this problem.
